Close to Watanabe Street in Fukuoka, at the gallery “Bouun”, is now open the exhibition of goods selected by Kazuto Kobayashi of Roundabout/OUTBOUND of Kichijoji in Tokyo. I’ve just visited it. I’m always happy to meet Kobayashi. FUJITO’s jeans are sold at Roundabout in Kichijoji, so we are good friends and good partners in business too.


In the weekend, Kazuto Kobayashi himself is at the gallery to meet the visitors, so yesterday I decided to call in. The atmosphere of both Roundabout and OUTBOUND stores is well condensed into the gallery space, a full immersion into Kobayashi’s world. Kobayashi explains every single object with care, and it’s strange because all the objects looks familiar to you. Kobayashi has a special way to talk to his customers: without telling you directly, he helps you finding the reason why you find so attractive a particular object (often not an article of practical use). That makes you feel so comfortable.

I bought a creation of the bamboo craftsman Taizo Yamasaki.
How am I going to use it? Let’s think about later.
