Kaoru Shimizu

Born in Tokyo in 1970. Raised in Mukojima, a lively area of Tokyo plenty of small factories, since middle school he starts working in a local ironworks. At the age of 20, he does part-time job in the warehouse of a furniture shop called IDEE. Soon he starts working for an ironworks company related to IDEE. Then he returns to IDEE WORKSHOP ironworks, where he is involved in the development of furniture pieces and in the making of special order items. In 1996, along with other partners, he establishes EXIT METAL WORKS SUPPLY in Higashi Azabu, in Minato district, Tokyo. It is an ironworks with a design studio, where shops interior and furniture are both designed and manufactured. In 2007, the factory is moved to Urayasu, near Tokyo, where, on the basis of his experience, he starts developing and making furniture products for apparel display, like garment and apparel racks.
