DAYS_
In Taipei
October 27, 2014 /
In Taipei I visited a place that Kazuto Kobayashi, owner of Roundabout in Tokyo, recommended to me. Along an old street there are, restaurants, apparel shops, groceries, and many other nice and interesting shops: the Chifeng Street. At the second floor of Chifeng 28 there is the shop that sells goods selected by Kazuto Kobayashi. That’s Kobayashi’s world. His aesthetic sense has penetrated even in Taipei. There I found FUJITO’s standard model jeans Acer. It was fantastic to meet one of my children during the trip.
I also went to 時常買生活道具屋. The cafe was full and I couldn’t enter. I like that quite neightbourhood atmosphere.
I went to 客家放山鶏 for the steamed chicken.
The steamed chicken was very good indeed, but the portion was big… it would be great to go there together with friends. That’s the visually impressive shop front: very characteristic of the country.
Taiwan has a very pleasant climate in the middle of October, you can wear short sleeves, but it’s a little bit humid. The smells of the city, especially the star anise, were intense, I love it but from the second day my sense of smell was paralyzed. I can’t believe how much I ate in three days, and I spent for every meal the same money I’d pay at Shintencho Club in Tenjin: the cost performance is amazing.
Next time, Taichung and Tainan.
